The apples growing throughout our local yards, parks, and roadsides are just starting to ripen! Did you know that these fruits are rich in pectin, and even the most sour apples can be turned into a beautiful and tasty jelly? In this workshop, we’ll combine barely-ripe apples with sugar and a bit of creme de cassis liqueur, to make delicious, natural jelly, preserved in glass jars for future enjoyment. We’ll also cover the basics of modern hot-water bath canning techniques, equipment, safety issues, and resources for the home canner. Each participant will take home a small jar of jelly and the recipe.
