CANNING 101: RHUBARB CHUTNEY ** NEW WORKSHOP ADDED! **

The first canning workshop has filled up so fast we have decided to add another session. Lindsay will be back at the Compost Ed Centre on May 31st for a chutney redux!

Date: Tuesday May 31st, 6-8 pm
Location: Compost Ed Centre Strawbale Building 1216 North Park St, Victoria, BC

Rhubarb is a fantastic harbinger of spring, and deserves to be celebrated as often as possible, including as an accompaniment for savory foods such as cheeses and meats. In this workshop, we’ll combine local rhubarb with spices, vinegar, and sugar to make a tangy chutney, preserved in glass jars for future enjoyment. We’ll also cover the basics of modern hot-water bath canning techniques, equipment, safety issues, and resources for the home canner. Each participant will take home a small jar of chutney and the recipe.
Cost: $5

  1. I loved this workshop.

Super helpful and fun and easily accessible to someone with zero canning experience!

I really liked being able to cook outside, super fun.

And by the way, the chutney is incredible. I’m gonna can some at home this weekend and put these newly acquired skills to use.
